Soulful Pan-Afrikan Cuisine (SPAC!) is the spirit lovechild of muyoti mukonambi (“ማንጠግቦሽ “), conceived in the cauldrons of black box season at the watah theatre; with the sorplusi arts fellowship residency (now known as the Anitafrika method residency,) in the fall of 2016.
SPAC! was nurtured (as a cookbook) in the magic/all wombs of anitafrika retreat centre, and
grounded with harvests from my Sacred Leaders Training ™ (SLT) rites of passage/process,
‘mid-wived’ by Sacred Women International.
inspirit of coming (back) to full spectrum living with this soul vision, and in response to adapting to the (evolving) global COVID pandemic, SPAC! was officially registered as a business in spring 2021.
we are grounding rhythms with our growing villages, through this year.
we’re exploring the spectrum of pan afrikan ways of knowing and cooking with food and plant medicines; by reclaiming ancestral wisdoms,
and diving into all the deliciousness en intersections with well loved/popular dishes from the continent to the diaspora.
We offer:
1. home cooked meals
2. (weekly) meal delivery service, with options for
3. customized monthly meal plans (including complementary foundational consultation)
4. in-home cooking (private chef) services
and
5. catering services
(with sliding scale/subsidies for B3 groups/organizations)
hadithi njoo,
ukweli njoo,
utamu kolea…
kuna hadithi najua (there’s a story I know),
i’ve heard,
bout how the earth floats in space on the back of a turtle, and everytime someone tells this story,
it changes.
sometimes it’s in the teller of the tales, sometimes it’s in the details, or the audience…
but in all the tellingS, there is always this earth,
floating (in space)
on the back of the turtle 🐢…

in all the telling/s of the hadithi…)
it’s the next invitation in these/our relearning healing journeys.
what’s your story?
how is your heart?
how are you taking care of your heart today?
how are you nourishing bliss today?
what hadithi are calling you?…

2. haraka haraka haina baraka,
pole pole ndio mwendo.
[(fast, fast) going quickly has no blessings,
going slowly is the way]
3. Fuata nyuki ule asali.
[follow (the) bees to eat honey.]
4. dalili ya mvua ni mawingu.

where there will be rain, there’ll be clouds.]
