On exploring black food and seed sovereignty.…

Mchagulia jembe si mkulima (methali/proverb)

methali translation:

one who ‘chooses the (type of) hoe‘ is not a farmer.

and

Embako sebea ta!  - the jembe doesn’t lie.

[luhya methali that translates as] hard work pays.
one way that the jembe doesn’t lie is having vuguza* in storage. (vuguza is the maragoli word for seed)

Guiding principles (in):

harvesting calls to action/s from the black food sovereignty conferenceS and other movement building convenings.

like crear | résister | transform: a festival for feminist movements (whole moon of magical/l gatherings in September, hosted by AWID), and the 2nd black policy conference on november 27 2021.

we’re mapping network bridging, in(the)spirit of nourishing sustainable communities.

kwasababu (because) we are the ones we’ve been looking for; this mapping journey is grounded in network bridging within Tka’ron:to, Turtle island,

in this foundational year.

what seeds can we plant today that will make the most difference to our futures?
